Transferring is not a great idea - a clean reload is far better as it cleans out all the junk that any computer accumulates as part of its normal use. XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and this means it will become increasingly insecure. It will not run many of the newer programs or sites properly. A cheap version of Win 7 can be obtained for about £40 and would enable your new machine to stretch its legs and run properly. Even with that there will be several hours worth of Windows Updates to get it fully up to date. Have you purchased your new machine yet or do you mean new to you.
Ok - first stop antivirus - choose a good one - I wont recommend as everybody will start piping in with their favourites.
Essentials - Adobe Reader and Flash Player - only download those from the real website http:// www.ado be.com/ uk/#
To play videos divx http:// www.div x.com/
When installing the above dont take any unwanted extras.
Consider a different browser i personally dont rate Edge.
keep tapping your Windows update button as there will already be updates available for Win 10. Dont forget to add your printer there may be a new Win 10 driver for it.
