OK, leaving aside your inappropriate 'humour' - they are the same thing - assault - but with very different degrees of severity.

There are plenty of supposedly adult men in the world who giggle at the mention of the word 'penis', so the idea of someone having his cut off causes them gales of 'laddish' laughter.

It is the way of the world - sadly.

Why does assaulting a woman attract a prison sentence? It is to advise other men that assault is not acceptable, and will be punished.

But I think you already know that.
