On another point...does anyone have any idea how many entries these newspaper crosswords get on average every week ?
I have won the Sunday Times on 3 occasions over 5 years and an assortment of others, but I guess it comes down to luck in the end, for your winning entry to be picked out of the hat.

Yeah...you are probably right Danny !
The one I would most like to win is the Saturday i paper, as I need another DAB radio ! Actually, one day last summer, I thought I might have won, as I had a phone call from a very nice chap from the paper, but no....all he wanted to do was to sell me a subscription. When I told him that I couldn't possibly do that, as I was a Guardian Reader, he seemed a bit put out, but promised me that it wouldn't effect my future chances of winning !

Tilly...yes I agree, well a bit anyway !
The Sunday Times isn't the paper it was back in the 60's and 70's, that's for sure. I used to look forward to the literary and Arts reviews, but its mostly pop music these days. Its probably a debatable point but I think it has gone down-market over the years. I am not sure if the newspaper that campaigned so successfully for the Thalidomide victims is still around any more. harold Evans is long gone, worse luck.
But I really only get the Times these days for the crosswords. When I am in my caravan, I sometimes find copies discarded in the bins on a Monday morning, thus saving me some money !

Tilly...apart from the i, papers cost so much these days ! And if all I want is the bit with the crossword in, it seems daft to spend all that money every weekend. Add the high cost of postage, it can be very expensive.
I would ask my neighbours but I live in a firmly "Sun" and "Star" area I'm afraid !
