3Rd Party Reporting Of Hate Crime. Will I Get A Crime Reference.

I am getting totally sick of this guy who has been shouting out "gay boy" out of his car window it has been going on for about 3 years sporidacilly. And I am fed up of it I have his reg number and a list of dates and places it has happened. Somebody in the street at the other side turned round thinking they were shouting at him so I could put in a notice in the paper asking for him to contact me as a witness know idea who it was. I have applied for stockport housing only got the minimum points because my brother lives there i told my housing officer about this and she fillled in a reference form but never put on it I was being harrased. I am going to report this by 3rd party reporting of hate crime it is available in Tayside police I dont know if it is anywhere else the concept but will I receive a crime reference number that might make my case stronger for a move? until now i have been reluctant to go to police as he is sleeping with someone in my block so he knows where I live. I didnt want to open a hornets nest. But Im fed up of it now and i might as well use this to my advantage

I can't answer your question, but I would think the chance of getting the 'witness' to come forward by putting a notice in the local paper is very close to zero. The huge majority of people would not want to get involved , even if they did happen to see the advert.

Getting the Police involved may only escalate matters.....and they may not have any inclination to get involved in what seems to be a trivial matter.
