e-mail re. virus

I have received an e-mail with an attachment from a friend. I have not opened the attachment. The text says that tomorrow I may receive an e-mail from someone who has my e-mail, headed "invitation". It contains a dangerous virus called torch. Is this genuine? A hoax?
