Pre-op assessment
No real drama. BP check, blood test for cross matching and plasma.( only taken as a precaution. Maybe an ECG. Questions on drinking and or smoking habits.
The pre-op assessment was the best thing to happen to me.
The nurse was so rude to me and made me feel so selfish when I admitted to sort of trying to cut down on ciggies that I gave up there and then and never looked back. Nearly fifty years of heavy smoking stopped in a day. She achieved what Nicotine patches couldn't over 3 years. I love that rude nurse to bits bless her. :-)
Good sign that you have your pre op appointment because it means that you should get the job done quite soon. If there is a great lapse between the pre op and the operation then you have to go for another pre op to see that nothing has changed in the meantime. Won't be long. :-)
