Word confusion

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between ADVICE and ADVISE. Please break it down so i completely understand. i looked in dictionary but seem to mean the same. Preferably tell me in what context they are used.

Would it help to note that they are pronounced differently, i.e. noun = advice (advissse) and verb = advise (advizzzze)? When I was a child the way I remembered that a word was a noun is that nouns are able to have "the" in front of them, and that, as has been said, a verb is a "doing word".Don't worry too much, kevshakry, lots of people have difficulty with these two words.

You were correct with all of them except the first one.

As for number 7, it was just my little joke. It is the first line to a very famous song from The Sound of Music, and the ending of Edelweiss (correct spelling) sounds like "vice" as in "advice." Sorry if it confused you! :)

Advice is what you give when you advise someone. If someone advises you, they are giving you their advice.
