i recently sent an item back to ebay , it was faulty , the seller has offered me a refund. ok good. though my original credit card that i bought the item off is now destroyed and cancelled with my bank also cancelled and unlinked with my paypal account.

saying the seller refunds me today then will his refund go onto my defunct credit card.

i have linked a new debit card to paypal. so if he refunds me today will the payment go onto my new linked credit card on paypal.

its a couple hundred pounds . should i sent him a message

If Paypal holds details of your new credit card and a debit card I don't see a problem. The money will go to paypal account and then you withdraw it

i do not want the seller putting the money onto my old credit card , if my old credit card has been unlinked to my paypal , then no problem , right ?
I'm sure the payer doesn't have a choice of which of your bank/card accounts to use- he simply refunds it via payapal. It's then available for you to withdraw I think

thanks, he has just called me. sorted
it should go back to your paypal account just log on and see if you can see the activity if not write your problem up on their message service and they normally respond quite quickly.
i don't think it goes back on a card anyway
If you used your PayPal balance or bank account to fund the original payment, the refunded money will go back to your PayPal account balance.

[b]If you used a credit or debit card to fund the original payment, the refunded money will go back to your card. This may take up to 30[b]
