As you know the government are trying to get everybody out to work. This is my niece's who lives in Scotland story.

She was sent to a training "place" to train for some course - anyway she was there from 10 in the morning and when she made enquiries as to when the teacher was coming she was told at 12. She has a boy of 8 at school and a dad in the hospital at the moment.

She was surrounded by people who "frightened" her ie drug addicts etc. Now because she walked out of this place the Social Services have sanctioned her money for 3 weeks. This all we know so naturally my sister and I have sent her money to do her for the next three weeks.

They gave her food stamps but since our money is actually there she won't have to use the food stamps. Can you be sanctioned for doing this.

Yes she failed to attend a compulsory training course.

right Eddie - thanks for that - I have been retired for 10 years now and really know nothing about these courses etc. She is a nervous being anyway and between looking after her dad and her son on her own - she probably hyperventilated and walked out. Thanks again.
Not using the food stamps seems a bit daft to my mind, she'd do well to swallow her pride on that matter and make the most of what she has been offered.

Well Eccles that would be up to her.
She's very fortunate to be in a position where she can pick and choose.
I'm sure the "drug addicts" are people who are trying to better themselves just as she is. They are not people to be frightened of. I hope she goes back.
Ps...is that your dog jj? He's a sweetie. :-D
T goverment cannot afford for people to just sit around at home while they pay them to find a job - in return for the money they get, they actually have to be finding work. Although it may be unpalatable for her, she'll have to just suck it up i think
It's the same rules for 'nervy' people as it is for 'drug addicts'. As Bednods says she'll just have to suck it up. As for the food stamps she should use them and save the money you gave sent in case she is sanctioned again.

Yes pasta that's my wee Maxie - adorable. Yes to the rest of you she will have to suck it up. It's not very often she asks us for money but I would be aware next time. She is going to have to go these courses to get her money. god thank God - I am retired. Unemployed people must be coming through hell. Jennyjoan. ok Ummmmmm
That's fine :-)

Some of the courses people are sent on are just Mickey Mouse courses but some are good. My SIL had to attend one and she got a job in the NHS at the end of it.

nice news today - niece now has got a job to fit around the kid's school hours.

She goes sort a like a companion to the person and dusts and hoovers.

Then she has a bus to go further but this person is a wee bit mentally ill. I told my sister let her go and try it. But all in all this is a wee bit more money for and for her independence. Just wanted to let you know
