"th-the-that blasted Mummy of mine, on the royal khazi all this time, I tell you, and I, I can not get a look in, Camilla, and you don't get to become the Queenie-thing. Back to my grass-scratching and tree-hugging then, maybe for another decade."
she may outlive Charles and he'll never get the job at all. I'm told he's not as healthy as his parents. If she lives as long as her mother he'd be nearly 80 when he took over.
Of course he will be celebrating his mothers achievements. He's probably grateful she has lasted so long . We don't know what goes on in private -maybe she has offered him the throne and he has declined.
No way has she offered it to him and she won't abdicate - the reason being what happened with the Abdication - and it could have contributed to her old man popping his socks. No, she's in it for the long run, duty and all that.
However, it wouldn't surprise me if she created one or two Prince Regents to hand over some of the daily work and lesser appointments and that's where Prince Charles (and also William) could step in, leaving her free for more of her own time and the events that she values. I also think William would be better off departing to stuey-land to become Governor-General over there in Ottawa......allows them the family space and he and Kate adore Canada, apparently - (and what Charles should have done with Di, to Oz)...
