Speed Humps
The town where I live is plagued with speed humps, and many people would like to see them removed. Does anyone know the exact (legal) specification for the height, profile, length etc so that we might be able to find some which are outside the limits? I had success with this a few years ago because the Council put up signs stating they were going to install some at 75mm height. They were more like 120mm and one took my exhaust off; I forced them to rebuild and to pay for the repair (but of course, they blamed the contractor)

Town/County Councils will all have their own specification, but in the design they must take a 'Duty of Care' not to damage/endanger road users and their vehicles. You could try writing to your Borough/County Engineer (look up the council in the phone book) and ask them for a copy of their drawing showing the speed hump spec., if you want to check they are building them right.
At last, found it!! See the link for a specification!! http://www.sustrans.org.uk/webfiles/guidelines/traffic%2 0calming.pdf
