Like most of these shows...they have a longish run, then a break of several weeks/two or three months, then return for another longish run.
I think Countdown is one that goes on and on and on...without end.
I've never seen the appeal of it, myself. I don't necessarily think that people who watch it are idiots, but I was surprised when my son said that his very clever maths student housemate was mad about the show. He liked to work out the probabilities of winning a decent amount at each stage, and the best strategy at any time.
I won't miss it, though.
I have always said that I admire Noel Edmonds tremendously for the amount of atmosphere he manages to create with this show.
He manages to make what is entirely guesswork - the choice of box - look like it involves strategy that would bankrupt a Las Vegas casino.
Then he makes the entirely random choice of which box sits in front of which contestant look like a life-changing decision has taken place and the person behind the box can hail or wail depending on the result, like they had everything to do with it!
Thank you all for your comments and information, I'm glad it's coming back I couldn't watch it religiously every day but I do like to tune in occasionally and hope to see someone win 250,000.
