The more I see of at that haircut, the more I think how stupid it makes her look. Did her mother really think that it was OK to send her daughter to school looking like that ?
Why at 7 would a parent let a child have something 'shaved' into his hair? Seven fgs...still a child, not an adult capable of making decisions for himself! Parents should guide and convey what is and is not acceptable within age groups, that is of course my opinion but if people want to be accepted in schools, jobs, society in the wider sense then somewhere along that road, one has to tow the line or be ostracised because they don't actually fit in for certain criteria. Tattoos are a prime example when people complain they can't get a job because they are 'victimised' because they have tattoos....your choice you should be aware it's not always going to be acceptable as per the 'haircut' the mother allowed this child..the girl in the OP....sheesh, what they breed nowadays!
Believe it or not, even at 7 you let them leave the room unattended-my eldest went to her room to play and whist there decided to remove her fringe above the hairline.
I cut most of the hair off my little brother, when he was 2 and I was 7, with the scissors from the kitchen. I thought he looked smashing and he didn't seem to mind one way or the other, but Dad was distinctly unimpressed !
The girl and hair story happens all over the country on a regular basis - child with the wrong shoes for school or skirt too long/short. Bit parading the girl in front of the press is wrong. It gives her the idea that 'she' will always be in the right and everybody will be in the wrong.
It would be a total nightmare to be that age again, life is much more complex than when I was but a girl.
When I was at school, and yes, it was a long time ago, we obeyed the school rules about length of hair, length of skirt, wearing correct uniform at all times. I agree with Mikey, the mother is at fault, she probably doesn't understand what is meant by 'uniform'. I do despair about the way parents push the boundaries. The teachers' job is not to be envied.
Dunnitall - he was 7 and is a massive Liverpool fan and really wanted it done. It's harmless. It grew and we had it cut out in time for school starting. He thought he was super cool and it made him very happy.
