"The two great turning points in my life, were when my father sent me to Oxford, and when society sent me to prison."....Oscar Wilde.

Never been to Oxford myself...
What turning points in life have you had? (if any)

Cant say Ive had any myself. Lots of 'experiences' and things that make you go hmmm, but nothing that I can put my finger on and say "YES, that was a turning point"

I feel a bit cheated ;-)

Honestly, probably ends of relationships. never had a eureka moment though.
Like Prudie said, ends of relationships and new beginnings
I think nailit that we, like Oscar Wilde, don't realise these moments at the time, it's only on looking back.

I honestly don't understand the concept of turning points...
Have had many life events...broken relationships, going to prison, getting sectioned, health scares, ad nauseum. BUT... not one turning point. Just a continnuim of life and trying to live one day at a time. I honestly wish that I could Have JUST ONE EVENT that turned my life around for the better. Thats not saying that my life is rubbish, it isnt, But I would like to have that ONE event that others have that changed them.
Life to me is just one series of events....some good, some bad. But nothing life CHANGING. Just events. And to be honest, I dont give a toss what the next event is anymore. Its almost always painful and if it isnt , it comes with a cost that is mostly hidden so really couldnt care less.
It took a long time to come together but we jacked our (good) jobs, sold our house and moved miles away to run our own (doomed) pub. That was a conscious act that I suppose I would call a turning point. The other stuff that has just happened, the stuff we had no control over, even the really big stuff, just had to be endured or dealt with.
Mmmm, taking a holiday in Hawaii and meeting Mr.Sam on the beach, coming back to europe, changing business at 40.
nailit, nearing the end of life, just want to see children ok
But isn't life about simple things?
My dearest friend has two kids. The oldest for some reason gets on with me. I have never really put much stock in this. But then you see what an influence you have had in her life and suddenly you go wow!
