Does any body know where to start when it comes to writing articles for magazines?

You should contact the individual magazines you're thinking of writing for, and ask them to send you a set of submission guidelines. These will spell out the type of work they're looking for and how you should present it (post, email, etc.). You can usually find the address to write to somewhere in the editorial pages.

It's also a very good idea, if you don't already, to read a few copies of the magazines. That way you can get a feel for the sort of thing they publish.

'anybody' is usually one word... I know, petty, probably just an accidental typo... but quite seriously, make sure your spelling and grammar are up to the job. An editor in a hurry may well throw out the badly written articles first, because they mean too much hard work for him/her, and it won't make any difference if the typos were accidental or not. Check everything you write thoroughly before you submit it. And as SaxyJag says, make sure you know your market, read the magazine and be sure what sort of reader they're aiming at and what tone they adopt. Good luck!
