From your mouth - sounds like - Nay nay neɪ/Submit adverb 1. or rather (used to emphasize a more appropriate word than one just used). "permission to build the superstore will take months, nay years" synonyms: or rather, and more than that, (and) indeed, and even, in fact, in point of fact, actually, in truth "it is difficult, nay, impossible, to understand"

Many thanks Mamyalynne, I'd have never thought of that.
I hope it's right, it made sense to me.
It surely is - and Chambers gives one meaning of the homonym 'nay' as 'yet more'.
