That makes it about one month for each offence, less for the 4 year sentence.

No disrespect to vehelpfulguy, I agree entirely with his sentiments. But I think chimps point is that this is not a question, more of an opinion to create debate. Answerbank is littered with 'disgusted of London' type posts and although I am as guilty as anyone in joining in, all it succeeds in doing is creating arguments between the bleeding hearts and the hardliners, without any resolve. That's why they have become, as chimp so eloquently puts it, 'boring'.

Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to change the judicial system..& today I really don't feel like a rant.

in answer to the original question, no it is not enough, nowhere near enough, that's why our prisons are full, the penalty should fit the crime, I won't go on, don't want to bore certain people.

No, he is saying that the punishment should fit the crime..meaning:

Murderers would be executed instead of imprisoned, leaving enough room in prisons for scumbags to serve longer sentences.

Yes I am suggesting that, if one new from the first thought of , lets say a robbery that the minimum was say 5 years with additional time for carrying a weapon and additional time for using it and so on, and that a ten year sentence actually meant ten years then some might not get on that road. or can you suggest a way to halt the escallation in crime.
