Today I have seen, for the first time in my 49 years, a female train spotter, complete with requisite anorak and notebook.
What will be the next breakthrough?

My friend Joanne has been a member of the Eddie fan club for some time.
Oh! :-(

I'll try to think of something else then...........

erm?.........
Collecting dinky cars and keeping them in their boxes.
Panini football stickers.
Not a good result for you today, Tony..chuckle..
I collected Panini stickers for the World Cup in 1990...
Shaddap.
I thought train spotting went out in the 60s with the demise of steam engines.

If it was sad then it must be a hell of a lot sadder now!
On our regular trips up, down and across the country on motorways, I like to spot the names on the Eddie Stobart lorries. Thinking of getting a book to mark them off..... ;)
Lorries are quite interesting..
Getting glassy eyed in Wickes
I have a plane-spotter's book from WWII. It contains silhouettes from various angles of all British, German, American, Italian, etc airplanes of that era..Sometimes I put on a tin hat, grab my field-glasses, and wander up to the roof-top and take a boo around the skies.
...and other times you just say, "Sod this for a game of soldiers, I'm off over the fields for a few wobbly pops".
Spot on, Jackdaw33:)
The book is: "The Aircraft Recognition Manual" by C.H. Gibbs-Smith of the Royal Observer Corps, 3rd edition April, 1944. It's in great condition...Wonder if it's worth anything.
My dad was a train driver, one day he came home and said that he had a new trainee and it was a female. He was horrified, it was not a job for a woman - much too rough.

He got over the shock and discovered that she was actually good at the job he calmed down a little.

I've seen what I can only assume to be bus spotters around here, quite weird when you're on a bus and someone is there taking photos! I initially thought it was paparazzi or similar trying to photo someone on board or something.

It's not like we don't have many buses though, this is city centre Manchester and there are tonnes of them, if it still holds we even have the busiest bus route in Europe (my route in and out of the city) in Oxford Road. I know we have different bus companies and colours and normal and "green eco" buses, but I don't get the attraction.
People are odd, some odder than the rest of us.
