Is it an offence to be under the influence of alcohol whilst riding a horse on a public road? Drink Riding so to speak!

The Law Society recently put on a display of odd but still existing laws. One of these was the Licensing Act of 1872, which says that being drunk in charge of a horse, cow or steam engine incurs a �200 fine and a possible jail sentence of up to 51 weeks!
