My mind regularly boggles at some of the answers given in quizzes. Hopefully 'boggling' is good exercise! :)

Remember Ford was president over 40 years ago. And he was not elected but became president when Nixon resigned.

Have a look at the 'Dumb Britain' column in Private Eye for some truly woeful answers! And remember, these are people who have volunteered to go on national television quizzes! Back in the William G. Stewart days of Fifteen-to-One, every single contestant had to go through an audition. This doesn't seem to be the case with TV quizzes now.

To be fair to her, she probably thought Air Force One was a documentary. In a studio, it must be easy to make daft mistakes.

If the programme makers found contestants that know the obscure answers to every single subject they are likely to throw at them, it would make a pretty dull show.

I know a couple who appeared on Pointless. They are both very bright and knowledgeable. They didn't get past the second round in either of the two shows they were appearing in. They just had the wrong questions. They are not thick, just unlucky.

Like they say -every question is easy if you know the correct answer! I struggle with questions on Pointless especially if they are based on popular entertainment and music, yet find most questions on Eggheads ridiculously easy.

Even if you don't know that you know the answer(!) its worth a guess on Fifteen To One as most questions have the most obvious answer reIated to that subject.

I don't think the auditions are just about how good your general knowledge is, its also how you look, body language and personality in front of a camera.

I know somebody who applied for Deal or no Deal, and there were two additions before being selected, and there's no questions on there.
