I'm sometimes accidentally touching something on the touchpad of my laptop that causes the font size of text on the screen to become smaller. I can enlarge it again by pressing Ctrl and the + symbol (isn't the internet wonderful!).
The problem is that nothing comes up on the screen before or during this text size decrease so I can't pinpoint what I'm doing that I shouldn't be doing. Would anyone have any idea?

Thank you.

What is the make / model number of your MSI laptop and what is the operating system?

At a guess, your problem may be to do with the Mouse Touch pad configured to use 'pinch zoom' facility.

If so take a look at the following info on how to disable that function and other settings, it may help:-

Thanks pinkyboyid. It's a MSI GT702PE dominator Pro running Windows 8.1
I believe that your Mouse Touchpad driver type is Synaptics. If so, you should be disable the pinch-zoom gesture on your laptop using these steps:

- Press the 'Windows' key + R this brings up the Run box. In the Run box type "control panel" and then hit Enter.
- Click on 'Mouse'' (If you dont see that option but you do see 'Hardware and Sound' click that and then you should 'Mouse'). This opens the Mouse Properties window.
- Next, click the right-most tab, labeled 'Device Settings', and click the 'Settings' button.
- Next, from the left-hand column, click 'Pinch Zoom' and uncheck the box on the right labeled 'Enable Pinch Zoom'.
- Click 'OK' to save your preference.
- Click on the '2-Finger Gestures' tab and uncheck the box labeled 'Zoom In/Out'.
- Click 'OK' to save your preference and hopefully you should then able to enjoy zoom-free computing!

Hope that works for you.

Thanks pinkyboyid. I've managed to follow the steps up to and including the pinch-zoom disabling but I can't find a "2-finger Gestures" tab anywhere in the mouse window. All the same, so far so good as the zooming seems to have stopped.

Thank you again.
It might not be a pinch-to-zoom thing, it might be that you're holding down ctrl + touching a "mousewheel" function on your touchpad?

CTRL + 0 will return the webpage to 100% zoom. If you use the internet a little bit zoomed in, as many do, you may still need to + + from there :)

Thanks Ed for your help. I don't have to go anywhere near the ctrl key for it to happen: my fingers are confined to the touchpad as I only use my right hand when using the keyboard. I'll have to look into the "mousewheel" function as I don't know if it's available on the laptop!
