sore throat sultry voice and earache

Poglet had a sore throat the other day, i think I have caught it now, my voice is deeper than Lee Marvin singing. Anyone else feel that their GP is most unsympathetic to sore throats? Mine said I have an ear infection and he gave me an antibiotic but he said i can't take anything for a sore throat other than paracetamol. As I had no voice I couldn't ask the question of him, and so i shall ask it on here (DR Estie is not on line), why won't the antibiotic help my sore throat as well as my ear?

Antiobiotics will only cure a bacterial infection, which is probably not the cause of your sore throat. If you caught it from someone else then you probably have a virus, and they are not susceptible to antibiotics. For a run of the mill sore throat it's usually wasting your time and the GP's if you go to see him/her. It'll get better on its own in a few days.

oh yes I remember Lee Marvin - sounded like a frog with a man in his throat. Never mind, think of those movies with Joan Greenwood, her of the husky purring voice, mmmm.

chee rs guys, i know the antibiotics will eventually cure the ear infection, so i needed those and wasn't wasting his time, but isn't it possible that the ear infection is causing the sore throat and deep voice? I have a cough now to (cough cough) see.

Now there's a coincidence, I googled Joan Greenwood jno and tho I knew the name I hadn't realised quite who she was. Anyway, In 1966 I went to stay for a week with My Grandparents in Sowerby Bridge and my sister and I went to the cinema and the film we saw must have been Mysterious Island cos it had giant bees and a huge honeycombe in it, just like the movie poster on the Joan Greenwood website, and I have never been able to remember what that film was up until now. coincidence or what!

i have had a sore throat for over a week now, been eating plenty of honey it does soothe the throat but it aint no cure.

It sucks!! I have a sore throat to im just hoping it doesnt develop into anything more!! Ive only just got better from that other stomach bug. I sympathise with all you ill people out there xxxx
