What are the advantages of this state? Why not just stop posting?

well Squad - I went user-inactive some time ago - it was an accident and very inadvertent - anyway it was so difficult to get back in (for me anyway) as I had to set up a new email. So I lost my old email address - which is probably lurking somewhere. I will never go user-inadivitive again wrong spelling - too tired.

The Ed can make you User-Inactive, but I've no idea why he'd choose that over a suspension or banning.

A small tweak to the profile would solve the problem. Avatars can be activated and deactivated at will, why not accounts?
