Burned My Foot Skin Peeling Off Didnt Feel It.
3 Answers
Hi I was in the kitchen this morning making porridge for my breakfast and I was stirring it, the spoon fell out of the pot and dropped on my foot between my big toe and the one next to it. It was odd I didnt feel it but I knew I had burnt it so I ran to the bathroom and sat with my foot under the cold tap in the bath I felt the coldness of the water on my foot but not the burn that is weird. Some skin, not a lot has peeled off and it is very red but not painful at all. I am diabetic so I know I have to be careful with my feet. I will wear slippers again. I had a test done last year and I have slight reduced circulation in that foot 0.92 ankle brachial index its not too bad apparently. But how do I prevent an infection? And as the fact that I didnt feel it when I burnt it but felt the cold a bit worrying ?

I don't think that you can, apart from keeping it clean and hoping for the best.
I would smear some 1% hydrocortisone cream on it if you have some or if you haven't then just put a plaster over it for the time being and monitor the situation for the next 48hours.
IF you have reduced blood supply to the leg and we do know that you have diabetes, then that might, just might, explain why you didn't feel the burn.
No big deal.............at the moment.
