Well the boy who got her pregnant has been charged with Rape, due to appear in court in July. Wonder if he thinks the quick bunk up was worth it now!!

So it is your opinion that sexually active children should be allowed reproduce even though they are still children themselves, with no means of financial support other than what the Government are prepared to give?

The law is there for a pretty good reason! If we don't act on these kids that have underage sex - and we're not talking two 15year olds weeks away from their 16th birthday here werr talking a kid barely into double figures! - then of course we will never stop kids from having underage sex!

I for one hope he gets a sentence large enough to cause other young kids to think even if it only makes them use contraception it may stop a ten and a half year old wanting to beat her record! IMO!!

Does anyone know how this was allowed to happen in the first place. It is outrageous that a girl of 11 can go out until whatever time, get drunk and have sex. Never mind the smoking 20 a day. I 100% blame the parents on this. The girl was stupid but not nearly old enough to be educated sexual matters and it's down to a parent to protect their children. Would the mother have been so proud if this pregnancy had resulted from (god forbid) a rape because her 11 year old was too drunk to know better. I don't wish any bad on the girl or her baby it really beggers belief.

Bigdogswang, you clearly haven't bothered to read what I wrote in either of my posts properly so why bother quoting a single line out of context? Children having sex with other children with both parties consent should not result in a criminal conviction that will haunt them both to their graves if there is no violence or coersion. Do you really understand that two teenagers aged 15 kissing each other can be charged under this legislation?

I do not know either of the kids involved in this, I don't know if the lad was aware of exactly how young she was and I don't know if he bullied her into it or not so I'm not going to be drawn on this individual point, but this legislation is a menace to the very kids it pretends to protect because it criminalises them for perfectly normal teenage behaviour.

I said I believe the way forward to drop underage pregnancy is better and earlier sex education, and for kids to be able to feel safe approaching health profesionals who are there to assist them with contraception without fear that their boyfriend will be reported for having sex with them. We really are going backwards, with the best of intentions, on this as a lot of kids no longer feel safe enough to seek contraception because of this legislation.There was not a single children's group that supported this reform, they could all see the problems that we are having to deal with now, but predictably it was forced through anyway.

I think the 11 year old's story is actually heartbreaking, but I'd like to see the best outcome for her and her child from this, not them made scapegoats for other people's bigotry.

I think its really, really sad. Its hard work bringing up children, let alone in that situation. I also think it doesnt help when idiots say stuff like the government will hand things out to her on a plate, the money the government give her will be pathetic and she will probably end up living on a cr@ppy estate waiting for her son or daughter to turn out exactly the same because they have nothing to work with in order to make their lives better.

If people stopped saying that then maybe these girls wouldnt believe it. Whatever happened to being terrified of STDS, I was (still am). Boys need to start gloving up!!

noxlumos, when I read your postings on such subjects as these, you give me a bit of hope for the world. Some of the things that I read on here make me despair of the human race. What has happened to "understanding" and "forgiveness" and "there but for the grace of God go I".
There seems to be so much bitterness in the world today, and it makes me very sad.
