I agree, everh. We were all brought up in Wallsend. David Street is set back from where the GPO exchange used to be and, as you say, a very quiet area.

London's postcodes cover all corners of the compass except NE and S, because these areas weren't getting enough mail so Anthony Trollope, who worked for the Post Office at the time, recommended they be abolished. Newcastle was allowed to use NE. Sheffield got S.
Details are very scant at the moment. Given that the person in custody is of the same age as my nephew, I can only conclude that he is an old school friend of his. No names have yet been released, but it will all come out in the wash. My only worry for his mother and his surviving brothers is that this will be in the public domain long after his funeral.
