Parking At Gatwick

Am collecting a friend off a 1250 flight coming into the North Terminal this Sunday. Haven't driven to Gatwick before, coming from Worthing on the south coast.
Has anyone got any tips to make the experience a little more hassle-free. Assume I will park in short term parking, assume it's clearly signposted for north terminal?
Is there a way of finding out whether her flight is on time, being mindful that I won't be able to log onto the internet once I have left home.

there are screens up all inside the terminal advising of arrivals/times/delays etc

http://www.gatwickairport.com/parking/Pick-up--drop-off/#picking-up According to this, car park 6 is the most convenient of the short stay parking or you can park for 2 hours free in the long stay.

Would add that the 2hr free parking in the 'long stay car park' will involve a bus ride to the terminal.
