Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo is a fantasy action adventure film. Directed by Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich, a winning combination who also worked on Monsters Inc together, the film is partly a buddy movie and partly a coming of age story cleverly interlinked with a liberal spread of humour and a hint of tragedy.
Finding Nemo was a massive box office success that continues to this day with DVDs and related merchandise. Parents relate to the father figure, who wants his child to be happy but is slightly over protective. Children love the animation and bright characters. The fish are believable if somewhat stereotyped but the ensemble cast really bring them to life.
In addition, there are many grown up humour moments to keep the adults entertained as this is one the children will want to watch again and again. The opening scenes can be quite scary for little ones though so be warned.
It tells the story of the overly protective clownfish Marlin (Albert Brooks) who along with a regal tang called Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) searches for his son Nemo (Alexander Gould) who has been taken from their Great Barrier Reef home by a scuba diver. Along the way Marlin learns to take risks and that his son is capable of taking care of himself.
