copy from freeview channels

I just can't figure out how to video ,channel 5 and the other freeview channels. I have no problem copying from the channels BBC1 and 2 and ITV 3and 4. Has anyone had the same problem?

I have an Hitachi combined DVD and VCR player. Can I copy my videos onto a blank DVD with this player?
