Well after a frustrating day where little seemed to go well or as planned, it was nice to sit down to this weeks ev. Less nice to see no numbers, but not as it turned out a disaster that soaked uP...
Thanks to Gos for featuring one of my favourites. I did think, though, that many of the clues were Times Cryptic (or even the easy cryptic) standard rather than Listener. It must have been hard to get...
Some quite tough clues but a great PDM and all working out nicely in the end. Fortunately it didn't go down the route I was expecting. Excellent stuff Shark. Now I'm ready for the September Magpie!
A fairly easy solve in contrast to the rather complicated preamble. I haven't tried to work out the title yet!
Farewell Ruslan - you will be missed....
Another good set of clues from Jaguar formed around a nice puzzle. Have had a children free weekend so it was a leisurely morning lie in (till 8.00! the luxury!) with some real coffee, a fried egg...
What a delight, on another theme about which I was previously ignorant. Would have been much tougher without the generosity of the setter. Particularly liked 33 down. Thanks Wan....
We just had our penny drop moment and, with an almost full grid, have to make sure that we enter the correct bars - quite a task, and quite a feat, Ozzie, thanks. This has been most enjoyable.
Good fun, with sufficiently straightforward clues to render it not too challenging. I think 'across the grid' must be interpreted as 'all the way across the grid' to resolve ambiguities in entering...
I think I would have found this impossible without managing to have a lucky guess about who players 1 and 2 are, followed by another lucky guess about where the various empty squares should be. Both...
Quite a tough puzzle I think, especially in the top half of the grid where I still have the odd gap, but the rest of it's come together nicely to reveal one of my favourite themes.Well actually I'm...
Well, I paid my subscription in the end, and a puzzle like this makes it worth while. Mind you, I don't know how anybody could complete it without an early PDM allowing almost 3/4 of the grid to be...
Have just taken up my £1 special offer for first month of my Times subscription, and do hope I shall get better value for money in the coming weeks. I regret to say that this is just not up to...
What a weird theme! Still, nothing like a thematic puzzle to introduce us to the weird and wonderful, so thanks for just that MynoT. I'm missing 26ac so not quite completed yet, and for that matter I...
No, I haven't posted to say "Wow, I've finished it", I am as usual blundering along wondering what on earth is going on. What I have posted to say is "Where has everyone gone?" This used to be such an...
I suppose it had to come -- I mean both the theme and an easy one after a few gems. I am sure there could have been something more exciting by way of an end-game, but thanks anyway, Calmac....
Two setters, if memory serves, which explains the preamble "have had"! I found this rather complicated by having heard neither of the unclued 6dn (at least, not in this context) nor of the fitting...
A very gentle but amusing romp through territory that was fortunately familiar to me. Liked the alternate letter device. Many thanks to a veteran setter, I believe. Leaves us all plenty of time to...
