foghorn noise in Newcastle upon tyne

Hi, does anyone have any idea what or where the occasional foghorn type noise comes from, it occurs around the newcastle quayside but it sounds like its coming from different places and if its a ship...

Australian TV series set in WW2

Can anybody tell me the name of a tv series shown on bbc over 10 years ago. It was about two soldiers in ww2, one japanese, one australian, it was set in papua new guinea and in a prisoner of war camp...
