Wooden worktops going sticky!

The kitchen worktop is beech I think - a woodblock pattern. When we moved in the previous owners had coated it in Danish oil. Consequently it was sticky for months. We are now getting a new kitchen...

Does brown bedding go with black and white wallpaper?

The wallpaper is white with a black floral pattern (Laura Ashley summer palace) and the bedding is John Lewis mocha, natural and oyster plain poly-cotton bedding. Does brown go ok with black?
