How long does a UK passport need to be valid for before travelling?

I am travelling to the canary islands in may, i come back to the UK on the 27th of May but my passport expires on the 12th of June, will i be able to travel on this passport or will i have to renew it...

Can anyone give me a good recipe for french onion soup?

Also i would like to make it with the onions chopped up finely so would it be advisable to use a food processer for this purpose?
