heres a general question for those who feel strongly about language; what are people attitudes to american english entering british english and culture in general? do people think it's dumbing down...

Vikings stole my boat

can any one tell me what impact the vikings had on english language? i know everyone who's name ends in '-son' probably has viking ansestors but what else is there?
