Transfer movie to IPOD touch

I have downloaded a movie on to my computers hard drive (not through itunes). How do i copy this to my ipod or to a disc ? Is there a simple way.

Does anyone know a free download program where I can convert my mp4 video files off my mobile phone to avi,mpeg.. ect files so i can view/edit them with windows movie maker on my pc? Many thanks
