How Suspensions will work this weekend
146 Answers
Afternoon all,
I've noticed the nastiness has crept back into ChatterBank.
I'd prefer it if we kept it to medium strength banter and level 4 "cut & thrust" please. Exceeding these limitations (or breaking the rules) will have you suspended.
While usually a suspension lasts a few days, typically a weekend, we're applying a new rule for this weekend, which, if it works, may remain for the long term.
Suspensions which take place this weekend will be reviewed on Monday by the editorial team. Suspensions, at this point, may be lifted. Those which are not (i.e. the suspensions are completely vaild, as most of them will be) with continue until the following monday.
At that point the suspension will be lifted - unless the user has returned with a new/other username or caused trouble in other ways (for example, sending a snarky email to us). If a suspended user causes trouble suspension will roll on for another week - or a ban will be put in place and the user will be bannished to the Swamp Of Unpleasent Odours.
Okay, you have been warned! Enjoy your weekend!

For the record, I had no problem with Boo's comment - I am a bit thicker skinned than that to press the report button. If I had done so, I am sure that bshe would have been booted and that would have been fortunate. Instead we agreed to disagree, a sensible resolution to two contradictory positions. She wasn't budging and neither was I.
My first comment on dotty's about turds was not in accusing anybody, it was a tongue in cheek thing about Sugar-stirring and I actually forget how I worded the simile, something about "turd-turbulence" was it? I will say that I think she took it all rather too seriously. However, so be it.
Her comments on hate are a bit strong - I certainly don't feel that way about Boo and there are many sensible comments, suggestions etc made from her - also some highly sarcastic ones too, though I am far from blameless there. However, I think she has misread things and taken it to too much of a personal level. The punch up (wrong word) was over dead horses at Aintree and hunting - I am pro and she isn't. Not much going to change there, so best leave it.
And I have more important things in my life than some petty squabble on AB
Lastly, congrats to all of you who weren't suspended. I did think that there were some highly unjust ones and hopefully the Ed has resurrected those. And that they get some learning lessons out of it and the feedback generated here and on other threads.
