Good afternoon everyone. I hope we're all keeping well?

Posting Personal Details

I know we all get quite friendly on here sometimes - and in such cases it can become easy to feel very involved with everyone else on the site. Sometimes we come to like, and even trust each others.

Sometimes this means we'll be prone to giving away more information about ourselves than we should.

Please remember not to post details about your personal life such as your name, date of birth or contact details such as email addresses, phone numbers and real addresses.

Equally, please avoid giving away the details of other users. Doing so will result in a suspension - especially if it seen to be malicious. Not only is it dangerous, but it's a bit creepy!

Emailing During Suspension

We do not acknowledge suspended or banned users by email.

So, while it may be therapeutic to email us during your suspension, don't expect an email back!

Suspensions last a week to be reviewed on the following Monday.

Please accept that the rules apply to you, and that you might not be in the best position to judge whether you "deserved it" or not. Just enjoy your suspension.

All the best,

Spare Ed

I think RH is referring to the perpetual rumour (that has been dispelled several times) that 10 reports automatically suspends a user.
Ah well, too slow :)
just some clarification needed, If a user posts another aber's personal details. will that user be suspended for a week (subject to review) ?

I have recently seen examples of this in the recent past, the user was not suspended though the details published were removed. Im guessing now the user would also be suspended?

"If a user posts another aber's personal details. will that user be suspended for a week (subject to review)?"

Yes. They will from now on. It does have to be pretty hard proof though, and it requires the person whose personal details are shared explaining it to the editorial team - otherwise we wouldn't know!
if you can post the links you can post it directly on here, just post the link into the bar above where you type your answer that says "enter your youtube link here..." instead of posting it in the main body of your answer.
no worries mazie, the tool bar I mean, is the very top of your screen? it will show a series of letters and words, thats the one , outside of the youtube site, btw
I would argue that someone putting someone elses personal details on here should actually be banned rather than suspended. I would think it's well out of order.

I agree china. If you (we) choose to divulge our own personal details on here, then that's fair enough - our decision, our responsibility. But no-one else should do it.
there you did it mazie, well done :o)
Thanks chuck I feel a right numpty !
Bang on salla.
So are Happy Birthday threads too personal?
and what about specially obtained/created throwaway email addresses for a specific reason eg being able to help someone directly where they can be deleted from the provider once no longer needed e.g when I was able to offer help to Welsh Yorkie recently
Good point Rowan, that situation happened to me when I needed help.
