Why, when suspended, do some users lose their avatar, and some don't?

I'm just curious as someone linked to a suspended users question and they still have their AV...yet another user, suspended on the same day, doesn't.

A worthwhile question.

I have noted that some suspendees ( can't be suspenders can it ?) are not fully in limbo, because they can wave two fingers by actually being able to alter their Avatar to what they consider appropriate whilst away on 'special leave'.

redhelen.....It is very difficult for the Ed to be able to identify naughty Abers who come back in come back in a different guise. When he does, he takes immediate and appropriate action. One of the difficulties arises from postings into AB which have told folk how it is possible to return with a different username.

Chris...Apologies for a mis-spelling. Honestly I really meant 'Braces' which Americans call Suspenders and everyone knows that brace is a pair.

However as 'Bracers' is slang for people who demand money for favours. What payment do you want to overlook my error, and ensure that I am not suspended for such a stupid mistake.? :-) :-)

Purely my opinion.......If an ABer is Suspended or Banned their Avatar should be removed and replaced with a simple square, across which is diagonally printed their status.

Because Bobbi, you could be banned for swearing, you could then put up an avatar of the word lady-veg, which would in some ways circumvent the system.

I think that the words "suspended" or "banned" against one's status are slightly humiliating. How much nicer just to say, "Gone to tea with Fred".

Ed..Even better. Yes, print the reason for suspension in the box. So many folk would themselves like to know the reason for their suspensions but are never told.
