Afternoon.

I've just had a chat with the technical team. It seems they have brought me (and you) an early Christmas present.

As soon as I get to grips with my regex I will be able to make links pasted from various video and image sites embed into the question/answer boxes.

This works in the same way as the swear-filter does.

I will start with Vimeo, but what else would you like to embed into the site to make it a richer experience?

well... not that much, really. Already there are pages full of embedded YouTubery, and they just look cluttered and hard to navigate. I've always thought the ability to provide links was all that was really needed.

Be nice to embed a bit of bold and italic now and again, though.

Ah, wanted to avoid that JNO, not sure if I can change the CCS with this.
Question Author
Actualy it would be in-line.

Not even a flickr stream?
I'd love [img] tags but have given up hope of ever getting them on AB :(

well, I'm old-fashioned. Other hip young things may welcome the opportunity to cut and paste photos etc (which would need watchful policing) and sparkly little Happy Birthday messages.
No, I can't say we need more embedding either or it'll become ImageBank won't it?
To be able to over-write a link would be good...that way it comes as a nice shock when you're adding links to huge spider pics and the like :o)
Can we have a quote feature?

In another forum I visit we have one and it displays the person's post that you wish to quote into a box within your own where you can then reply to it.
Basic HTML would be nice to have back, just <B> <U> <I> and <marquee> obviously :)

<img> and getting the old <a href..... would be a bonus.
The problem with the quote feature is it tends to get over used and you end up with pages and pages of nothing but quotes of previous posts making it hard to find the relevant stuff in a thread.
Well I'm not keen on quote boxes either, sorry. You tend to get huge boxes with a one or two word & often unhelpful reply underneath.

Flickr will be added.

I was hoping we could stick to services to begin with?

I MAY give you a smiley. But only one

just for this one: :(
Quote trains can be limited with the right code. Make it so you can only quote one post, any quotes within that one can be 'spoilered'.

two on birthdays, or for posts containing photos of cute kittens
Well this has always been my favourite site for it's tidiness, I'd hate to see it become cluttered with anything.
