Gravatar Update Issue

Some have been having trouble with Gravatars updating recently.

I gave the techies a nudge, they looked into it and said it must be a problem at the Gravatar end.

As such there's little we can do to force gravatars to change.

We hope they'll fix the problem in a timely fashion.

looking not too bad now. Even CD's gone all red.

But if an avatar looks okay on a user's profile, but not on a thread, can that still be Gravatar's fault? It looks like AB is receiving the avatar but not putting it in the right places?

I have contacted Gravatar about the issue. I'll see if we get a response.

I personally can't see any avatars at the moment (even in profiles).

Ed, it appears to be some sort of DNS / routing issue in the UK. I can't even resolve www.gravatar.com to an IP address at the moment, yet a trace from a server based in the US works fine.

Yes, snags, but AB doesn't use en.gravatar.com - do a quick View Source.

I still think it's a DNS / routing issue...

I'm not unhappy about wearing my poppies for an extra few days, but I did change my avatar but no effect yet.

maid up - I wrote to [email protected] about this today and a number of others have to - the more the better as to making them realise that there is a gremlin in the funnel.....if you could send them an e-mail too, the more merrier and all that.

I really wish you'd use somewhere other than Gravatar. I tried several times to contact them with my serious issues to no avail. I even Goatse'd them.
(this is why I no longer have one)

I changed my avatar on Gravatar 14 days ago and the change still hasn't fed through to Answerbank.
The one I have on Gravatar was only apt at the time I set it up (17th Nov) but isn't appropriate now. But if I change it again on Gravatar is there a risk that the one I set up 2 weeks ago will eventually appear on AB and I'll then have to wait 2+ weeks for it to be changed?

As I've said elsewhere, you look Christmassy to me! (The bulldog is looking for a kiss under the mistletoe when I look).

It's difficult for us to test the problem when we cannot replicate it, we will dedicate a little time to this next week.
