You can now make lines of text italic on The AnswerBank.

Great for:

1. Emphasis
2. Quoting other users

It's dead easy.

Just add [ i ] without the spaces to both ends of the text you wish to italicise.

A bit like this:

The power of imagination....
rowanwitch.....You will already know that my imagination is prone to running riot[i.

I am bearing in mind everything that Chuck is saying and still engaging my quickly aging mind on the issue concerned. I dread the day (if it hasn't already arrived) when I am posting into AB nothing but stupidity.

Believing that I am still [i]compos mentis,[i] I am now wondering about other keyboard keys being used at the start and finish of [i]italicised words].....such as...;this;...or `this`...or...#this#.

There's bound to be a snag somewhere.

Ron.
Ron, I think you have to leave spaces before and after the words you want to italicise .
compos mentis
just testing
There's bound to be a snag somewhere

There certainly is with the present format, which, so far as I can make out, is very unreliable.

Ron.
jno.... You are correct about having to leave spaces.

Reference to my posting above yours..is evidence that I have done that.

How do you account for the [i]'s remaining in place, in the second paragraph.?

Ron.
I do not leave spaces Ron, certain punctuation marks and the placing of them seems to negate the process.
Hi Ron - I think it might have been the comma that did it - some punctuation & special characters aren't recognised
There certainly is with the present format, which, so far as I can make out, is very unreliable.

Not from this end Ron, can you try that again!!
Ron, it seems as if when something goes wrong with one set of italics in a post they all go wrong.

I'm not sure if you can get two [i in the same [i] post ] or not, let's see.
no, that didn't work, did it.
to post[i or not to [i]post[i] that is the question,
whether 'tis nobler to [i]post] & suffer the slings of fools with anonymity...

etc

With apologies to W. Shakespaere..
same result as me, Nibble. Something to keep the techies busy over the weekend.
