New Badges To Be Processed Tonight

We've just rolled out the update again, without the bugs this time.

This means there are more badges. These should process tonight and over the weekend. It will take some time.

I just cannot understand all this interest in AB badges.Why do people want badge rewards for Q and A.

dennis....I agree entirely.....perhaps that is their greatest contribution to life.......AB badges.

It also gives them a feeling of importance and credibility.

For Ed &Co they are a Godsend, if the posts are a bit slow and the threads a bit short........call up a thread on "Badges" and the results will be satisfying.

I think it could be classed as "just a bit of fun" Dennis. People like all sorts of silliness - it's best to ignore the stuff which doesn't interest you generally. There is a benefit to new users who can infer that someone knows what they're talking about in a particular category if they've received a badge for a number of best answers.

I spotted your report on the other thread em10, and as I said, we will be working through the issues this week. Thanks for reporting.

I can't believe I have started a marathon or provided 1000 best answers (or even 250). Has anyone ever provided 1000 best answers, apart from Wikipedia?

I have gained a 5+ year badge despite not even being 2 until March, also I have a thread of 1000+ badge which I don't think I have earned.

ed you've missed by gold badge in genealogy, craft has one and i want one too, it's not fair, you can have my planting a family tree one as i haven;t planted a family tree just helped lots of other folk plant and nurture theirs. : (

IMO, you could simplify things by removing the worthless badges, specifically those which are "earned" by nothing more than saying e.g. "Yes" or "Me too" or "I agree" a given number of times on different threads within the same topic.
