Why do certain ABers, including certain Mods fell the need to "welcome" newbies?
A bit OTT in my opinion especially as many of them are "wind up merchants."
Is that aimed at me, sqad, saying "welcome to AB" on the relationship thread? If so, it's courteous - the OP is making their first post, wind-up or not.
But then you will get newbies like me, Sqad....shy, uncertain, plucking up courage for weeks to post, wary of giving an opinion for fear of being shouted down...
We need to be welcomed and nurtured....so it's a nice thing to do...☺
I don't remember anyone welcoming me, either, prudie - in fact, one person told me on my first night that I'd be better off googling my gardening question.
Sqad, you have absolutely no idea how jolly good it is to see your post here. You appear to have been disappointingly remiss is posting on AB for a short time. Anyway, it's frightfully refreshing to read your most enjoyable comments once again. And do, please do, express my fondest felicitations to the esteemed Mrs Sqad. A most hearty welcome back, old chap.
