Faos Etc

I've lost track of where this discussion has got to but is there any kind of plan to have a category for FAOs. It will almost certainly be abused but it is becoming a little tedious.
There are frequently threads directed to 'the experts' which don't take account of the expertise of others and are therefore self limiting. Particularly when there is a poster with more recent and pertinent experience.
And then there are the FAOs along the lines of 'Thanks Chumbawamba I've fixed it'
Not to mention the 'FAO Eric, are you about?'
Yes, you can avoid them but sometimes it is difficult to especially when they are in a specialist category rather than Chatterbank!
Please either a tightening/reminder of the rules or a 'Calling your Name' category.

\\\\Ed's point, though, about the banter being between a few people only, and therefore quite off-putting for other people to join in, is valid, as several seem to endorse on this thread.\\\
Totally INVALID.
Instead of FAO redhelen, sara3, ummmm, jack the hat, craft..........which was the norm.......we now have different names. Some of the posts of the above were totally incomprehensible to 90% of CB.......it didn't stop them.
It was a lack of insight by cupid.....but we have all done stupid things on CB.

As someone who arrived in May, i can say the vast majority of ABers are friendly and welcoming. I did start by answers though and there does seem to be a lot of suspicion if a new person posts a question. When you think about it, an anonymous site like this would be ideal for a newbie to ask a genuine personal question. It's called AnswerBank. I think people should stop the troll accusations unless they are very sure.
On CB, when i first started, there was one poster who used to scare me a bit as they seemed to know everything about everyone offsite too, which made me wonder if i was missing something. Although that person does now complain if others do it.
I don't think there was anything wrong with that thread the other night. Psybbo, you didn't post it, it certainly wasn't your fault, but cupid didn't mean any upset by it. I think if she hadn't gone off to watch the soaps, she would have been quite happy to tell others what she meant. It's not the end of the world.

Of course there are different names, sqad, some of those names you mention aren't here so often now, but they are still around. Life moves on, I don't see it as a question of the old guard being supplanted, it's good that there are new ABers. As Ed said earlier, he put a ban on FAOs a while back because - even then - some people didn't like them.
