Is this a problem which is associated with users of Internet Explorer.? I use Firefox as my default browser and never appear to have the issues which so many other ABers get on this site.

Hans.
We're getting that link too.............. which keeps closing our AB page.

windows 7
internet explorer
google,
that's about all I know.
If it's a virus why is it only happening with AB?

good point crafty.
@methyl.....Point taken......Proved that one must be extremely careful when downloading any free software.

Hans.
@methyl....Please correct me if you think I am wrong in understanding that this is an issue of a Cookie having been placed into one's computer. If this is the case then Craft has raised a very good point.

This is worth reading :-

@methyl........I am not a Professional Techie so would find it difficult to argue with you on lots of matters. However, I must be careful of what I say about advertising in Answerbank, because without adverts it would mean the end for a wonderful site.

Nevertheless, I am going to stand by my thought that an Answerbank Cookie could be influencing matters in some way or other.

@methyl.....Sorry, but I am getting confused because you are adamant that we are dealing with a nasty virus and I think it could be a cookie (or virus) which has entered the system via an advert in AB.

Perhaps in the morning our Ed will comment on this occasion because he may have missed an earlier posting from cupid :-

Sorry to open up such a hornets nest. But the problem for me is only happening on AB. Google is fine. So are my emails. I don't use my PC a lot, just for fun mainly and I and my other half and I are too long in the tooth to understand all the computer jargon.

I thank you all for your in-put, just waiting to see what the Ed has to say later today.
Morning,

I've blocked the address, so there should be no link to the site and AB any longer. You may want to clear your cache/cookies.

As far as I can tell, it is not a virus, just a tracking cookie which has broken.
I think Methyl is trying to scare you :)

Is clearing cache cookies just deleting history ?
CTRL + SHIFT + DEL brings up the options for deleting history, cookies, cache etc.

You may lose your automatic AB login, so please try and remember your password before clearing your cookies/cache etc.
