Is It True That Mods Can Remove Their Own Posts?

I see a couple of ABers have referred to a mod removing his/her own posts. Is this allowed? And how would we know who had removed a post although I suppose it is highly unlikely one mod would remove the post of another mod. Just interested as if it's true it seems unfair to me. Any thoughts?

Naomi I've personally seen that happen and personally been involved. Someone was incredibly rude to me and in a fit of Pique I told then to take themselves off and procreate with themselves. I did'nt actually type any rude word BTW. The post was removed and I was suspended -the thread then went on to basically condone what the poster had said to me, lots of laughter and 'you tell her' etc. and this was a thread with at least two moderators. I complained that although I would take my suspension, it should be a flat playing field and the other person should have been suspended also . Not even a reply that the message got through.

Indeed not - but my point was that I probably come closer to the wire than a lot of people, and my posts remain, and I do not for one moment think that I receive any 'special treatment' - I would be mortified to think that I did.

I prefer to think that I make my points without recourse to insults or rudeness or inappropriate posting.

I will concede that I have fallen out numerous times with one poster who is equally litigious, - we are on a mutual break at the moment - and including those spats, I am more than willing to accept and apologise if I unwittingly upset someone.

Nothing that has been said on this thread has changed my mind that it is unfair that mods can delete their own posts even though it might have been an unintended consequence of the system as suggested. And Naomi's post on the previous page has hardened my opinion as I have seen something very similar myself.

Thank you all for your answers and I'm glad to see I'm not alone, even though not overwhelmed with support.

None of this would be an issue if we didn't know who some mods were. I've always thought this a bad idea if I'm honest. Either that or mods shouldn't post at all.

it's not like mods are getting paid or anything, they're just ABers. Anybody who thinks they're hard done by can email the Ed.
