Why should Moderators who are debating in opposition, be allowed the power to remove posts, surely they should be seen to be either impartial or not given the power to remove?

That was the O L D site, I only looked after that one for a couple of years I think. Then we upgraded to this one.
We're putting together designs for an update to this site right now. We'll release them to you lot when we think they're 80% of the way there.

Hansurbanka - //It would be interesting to know who are all the Moderators and what they can and cannot do.
Hans. //
Trust me - from the grief I have received since being 'outed' as a Moderator, I would advise anyone past present and future who undertakes the job to retain anonymity at all costs.
As this thread has demonstrated, and various previously - simply stating as a Moderator that you are as fair and impartial as you can be, is simply disbelieved by certain posters - and that is not only frustrating, it is insulting.
If I was able to be a Moderator and be unknown to the regular snipers and bullies who try to make my life a misery I would take it in a heartbeat!
As far as what Moderators can do - that's simple -
they can remove individual posts and threads but ... and here is the interesting bit - they must advise a reason why they are doing so, and the Editorial Team do not agree, the post / thread can be re-instated.
I hope that helps.

Sqad - yeah, you lot in the cheap seats :)
divebuddy - because it varies so much in terms of what we think the infraction is worth. It's mostly NOT about the person suspended, but keeping that person away from causing trouble for the rest of the community. Releasing an ABer back into the wild at the wrong time could see them immediately causing trouble.
ummmm - Mondays used to be rubbish!

"Everyone will hate the redesign. I suggest you release it for comments and then go on holiday for a fortnight."
I agree. Good plan.
"Are you going for a responsive design and ditching the mobile version? And whatever you do, do not change the colours."
Yep, full responsive. The colours are here to stay, mostly! We're probably heading towards a few more newspaper site conventions in terms of data layout. I am sure it will upset some people!
Divebuddy - We is me and the editorial team. In theory a mod could suspend someone and unsuspend them later, but in practice they suspend, we're notified - check it - and set a reminder to unsuspend them at a certain time/day.
Really though, it's easier not to break Site Rules, I imagine.
