Good afternoon.

After a lot of feedback, it seems many desktop/laptop users would like to be able to see some questions and the latest posts at the same time. We'd like to try and help, so would this be a preferred layout for the category pages?

This would just be desktop, mobile and tablet would look as they do now.

NO Seriosly its a disaster cant find any help. Normally all I had to do was type in the crossword in question and up would come all the contributions to it. Now nothing getting answers to old ones. Think I'll just have to say Au Revoir its driving me crazy.
That looks a bit better but I don't really think we've given the new format much of a chance yet. It's always going to get some getting used to at first.

Frances, 'Search Box' is just above latest posts now.
I used search box put in Rte guide 6 got answers to rte crosswords for 2012 2013 xmas every kind but what I was looking for. Doesnt matter if I use laptop ipad or phone its seriously not worth the hassle Baldric.
Better, but why correct it on only one not all three ? Mobile and tablet screens swipe.

Thanks for the feedback.

We're going to go with it - should see an update later today.

We'll gauge reaction tomorrow and over the weekend.
yes please
Nice one Ed, that's so much better! :-))

Do the "View All Categories" & "Most Recent: Recently Answered...." lines need to be that tall? Perhaps 2/3 the current height? Also up the font size of "Most Recent" etc to that of the categories listed in that top line perhaps?
I do think you have done a remarkable job of starting a new site up with so few problems.
What about folk using 'phones?
Ed - not sure if it's because of the new (new) format but avatars in LP aren't always showing correctly - eg the attached pic shows pasta's avatar missing. Hovering on "User Avatar" gives a magnifying glass with a "+", left-clicking shows the avatar again.

It hasn't happened with any users that are normally "jelly babies", only those with established pics. There's no pattern as far as I can tell - I clicked one avatar back & it was fine through several refreshes, then disappeared again (as I type, the pics of donny48 & paddywak have disappeared). Not terribly important perhaps, but I thought it worth mentioning.

We're investigating that LiK! Got a similar issue elsewhere on the site, and will fix as soon as we're able :)
yes, much better
Ta & apologies Ed, I was unaware it was a known issue :-)

LiK, that's probably my fault. I've read and replied everywhere, rather than consolidating anywhere sensible :)

Hope to have another update today.
Yes, I prefer that layout on my desktop.
I much prefer the layout shown in the above link but on my laptop it only covers half the width of a page. In the current layout a lot of the text is outside the boxes. I am waiting for an email from AB to advise what changes need making to my browser, Google Chrome.

Dodger666 - please refresh your browser. CTRL+F5

If that doesn't fix it, clear your browsing history - CTRL + SHIFT + DEL brings this up.
Yes from me too.
Although I like the new site I am still finding it hard to come to terms with the posts for a topic being underneath latest posts. Tho I understand the need not to 'clutter' small screens with columns
And the styling I'd suggest could do with some more attention: it's odd having posts in the same background colour as the main background sometimes.
I've also started getting an enormous left hand margin in the text box when typing
