Would You Prefer This Category Layout?
114 Answers
Good afternoon.
After a lot of feedback, it seems many desktop/laptop users would like to be able to see some questions and the latest posts at the same time. We'd like to try and help, so would this be a preferred layout for the category pages?

This would just be desktop, mobile and tablet would look as they do now.

Often the answers refer to a sub-question number and you have to keep scrolling back to the top to find out the related question. I think it would help enormously if the question was held at the top of the screen (in a scrollable window if too large) and the answers then scrolled up and down below but with the question still visible.
The large font size of the new layout exacerbates this problem, as the length of the question/answer list is much longer and needs more scrolling. Reducing the web page zoom to a smaller size helps somewhat, but makes the questions and answers appear in a column in the centre with white space at the sides - the display should adjust to the available screen width.

Ed - re the missing avatars (p.5, 11:26 Fri 3rd Feb, this thread) - I refreshed Firefox this morning (needed for something else) & the LP avatars are behaving themselves now. Not sure if it was my action or you've done something at your end, but thought you'd like to know.
I'm still only seeing jellyfolk in the answer box, however.
