I am still getting this problem even after updating firefox - can nothing be done? am i really the only one getting it?
I dont really want to use a different browser but it stops me from accessing anything in the left of the drop down menu
it is a bit sporadic but really annoying.

Change to Google Chrome, Firefox is overrated. Have no problems with Chrome
What is the point of sticking with Firefox when it's problematic.Change, otherwise your problems will continue forevermore
Google Chrome will be more problematic. Your every move will be tracked. and information passed around the Net.

I feel sure that most of AB's Techy members use Firefox, on the basis of it being the Best Browser.

Perhaps if you detailed the equipment you are using, a few of AB's Top Techies might be inclined to respond.

Hans.
As you appear to be alone in your problem with Firefox and if other browsers work fine I would uninstall Firefox completely and clear out all the files that uninstall does not remove
Start with uninstalling Firefox and then delete the "Mozilla Firefox" Folders in C:\Program Files, C:\Program Files(x86) and C:\ProgramData.
Restart system and run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again but this time click the button that says Cleanup System Files.
Reinstall with the Current Release
It could be a problem with an add-on that you're using with Firefox. To check, click on the hamburger (three lines, top right), then on Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled. If things improve you'll know that you're using a dodgy add-on. (Re-enable your add-ons one at a time to identify which one).

If you eventually give up, I'd back Hans's view of avoiding Chrome. Try Avant
http://www.avantbrowser.com/
or Vivaldi
https://vivaldi.com/?lang=en
instead.

Thanks for your answers - was hoping for the ed to answer because I went to the trouble of sending several screenshots to help with the problem.
I dont really want to change browsers and obviously I will tolerate it to a degree - weird that no one else gets it.
The single addon that I use chris is the unmentionable one.
It appears very much like a graphical issue - for example if I look at my profile page my avatar balloons in size so that i can only see the bottom of it as it covers the whole screen.
All the spacing on the page goes wrong so that everything is crammed over to the left and i can only see the right hand portion of the menu.
ho hum - i will see how long I can put up with it.
You are not going to solve problems by sticking with Firefox. What is the point of it all. Still, it's your PC,and if it does not work properly what's the point ???
You say that you've 'updated' Firefox but have you tried 'refreshing it'?
(Hamburger > Help > Troubleshooting Information > Refresh Firefox. You bookmarks will be retained but you'll need to reinstall a certain extension afterwards).

If refreshing doesn't work, try uninstalling Firefox and then, after restarting your computer, reinstalling it. (NB: It seems that a fresh installation of Firefox usually retains your old profile but I wouldn't trust it to always do so. Therefore you should export your bookmarks file first, so that you've got it available to import back again if the need arises. To do so, press Ctrl+Shift+B, click Import & Backup, select Export Bookmarks to HTML, choose a suitable location and save your file. If you need to import the file back again later, the process is much the same but simply choosing 'Import' instead of 'Export')

Thanks for your considerable effort chris - i am happy to completely delete firefox and re-install if necessary but logically - why is it only this site that i have a problem with. i dont use any bookmarks or any features of firefox - just simply a standard browser with one add-on.
It is a bit random when it appears - what was that photo site you use and I will post the screen shots.
If firefox was the issue I would expect to see this with other sites but i dont.

this is a sample what my screens look like (assuming the link works)

Question Author
thinking about it - its possibly to do with the avatar - it may have started to happen at about the time I changed it.
I can't think why your avatar should cause a problem but, although it's still showing on your profile page, it seems to have disappeared from elsewhere, so perhaps there's something strange about it?
Question Author
I just deactivated it for a while chris to see if my problem disappears - I was working on the fact that the avatar picture is showing abnormally large on my profile screen.
For spath - i would expect others to experience the problem then - unless i am the only one using the unmentionable ;o)

"Quoi if ur using certain unmentionables then it will distort the iframes of the AB and may cause issues as i'm pretty sure the HTML structure will still try to display these sections but not the 'ads' in them. Maybe firefox has given up on this patchwork "

Utter rubbish

What the unmentionable does is put 'blank' area in its place and disables any links in the adverts, so what you see in effect are no adverts. The format of the page remains as it is.
It would be interesting if the Ed were to comment; even if only to say that AB's professionally contracted Techies are completely flummoxed on the issue concerned.
